Sunset Lost Canyon Exploration
The Journey
Journey off the road and into the desert to a hidden, self-sufficient farm fed by its own natural well — wander its trees and greenhouses and glimpse a side of desert life few ever see. Then head out by jeep across sweeping sands to the Lost Canyon, with its colourful formations and narrow passages, before ending the afternoon as the sun sets gold behind the mountains.
What to expect
This is the gentler face of the desert — an afternoon rather than a dawn. We drive north on the open Dahab–Nuweiba road to a hidden farm fed by its own natural well, where greenhouses and fruit trees grow improbably out of the sand. It’s a quiet glimpse of how life is made to flourish here.
Then the jeep turns off the road for the Lost Canyon, its narrow passages banded in red, gold, and soft sand. We time the return so the day ends with the desert sky on fire — the sun sinking behind the mountains as we make our way back.
Glimpses
The day
We leave Dahab in the afternoon and head north along the Dahab–Nuweiba road, a scenic desert route of vast open landscapes and endless mountains — the perfect introduction to the slow rhythm of South Sinai.
Our first stop is a desert farm set among the mountains: a rare, inspiring place where life is coaxed from the sand against all odds.
Climb a short flight of steps into the Lost Canyon and walk a colourful landscape of narrow passages — carved by wind and water over thousands of years — in vivid layers from soft sand to deep red and gold.
Witness the desert sky turn to gold, orange, and deep red as the sun dips below the horizon — a truly unforgettable Sinai sunset.
Arrive back at your accommodation in Dahab, concluding the trip.
