Desert Dawn

El Nawamis Sunrise Expedition

The Journey

Watch the desert wake from the top of a golden dune as the first light spreads across Sinai, a cup of fresh Bedouin tea in hand. Then move on through the dramatic forms of Al Makhroum and the shifting colours of Gabal Alwan to El Nawamis — circular stone tombs that are among the oldest roofed structures on earth.

What to expect

The morning begins before the world wakes. We climb to a quiet mountaintop with the desert still in shadow, and wait — with a warm cup of Bedouin tea in hand — for the sun to break over the horizon. It’s a moment that resets something. Few words. Long silences. The kind of dawn that stays with you.

As the light grows, the day opens into Sinai’s hidden landscapes.

At Al Makhroum, towering sandstone formations rise from the desert floor — shaped over centuries by wind into striking, almost surreal natural sculptures.

At Gabal Alwan, we walk beneath cliffs streaked in deep reds, soft yellows, and unexpected violets, the colours seeming to shift as the sun climbs.

We end the journey at El Nawamis — an ancient and mysterious site of circular stone tombs, one of the oldest roofed structures in the world. Standing among them is a quiet glimpse into a civilisation long gone.

This experience is about slowing down. Expect light walking, vast open views, and a deep sense of calm as you move through some of Sinai’s most untouched corners.
